Holidays in the caravan - Hill Farm Caravan Park, Romsey.

For our second weekend away in the caravan we decided to venture a little further afield, and set our sights on the New Forest. As mentioned before, the decision to buy a caravan was a little bit spur of the moment, and combined with the popularity of bank holiday weekends, the options on where to stay were a little bit limited as most places were fully booked, or didn't provide the facilities that we wanted. So the decision was made to choose Hill Farm just outside Romsey, which appeared to provide us with the facilities we were looking for (well we are new to this game, I firmly believe that you should have the experience before you try roughing it).

So Friday afternoon arrives, and apart for the worry that I was going to be held up in traffic on the way home from work, the subsequent collection of the caravan from the storage facility were we keep it, and the journey to the camp site passed without incident. That may seem unremarkable to seasoned caravaners, but as a newbie, the idea of towing one of these things does fill me with a little concern, I suspect that this is a state of mind that will disappear with experience.

First impressions of the site are very favourable, giving the impression that all requirements are catered for. Toilets and showers appear clean and well presented, there are washing up facilities and a laundrette, the site even has a shop and cafe, with the food being particularly well priced. The site itself offers pitches for the complete range of campers, and impressively ensures that there is a good mixture of pitches in each field. On first sight it appears that all pitches are fully serviced so even those sleeping under canvas can enjoy the luxuries of modern life, like electricity and running water.

The only two minor gripes of weekend so far, and by no means deal breakers, are the reduced space of the pitches, compared to the first site, and the couple of brief power outages we've experienced, apart from these the site is all we could hope for.

socially conscious gifts

Doing something noble like charity is indeed a good work! I appreciate the article; it has given me a brief idea on this topic. I have also been through an article on Eco-Friendly products.

Sounds like a really nice site! I think I might have to check this place out come our next family caravan outing. After the weather picks up a bit though I think! Paul Riley - Kick Back and Relax - Smile
